Once we gained access to our rooms and unpacked our bags, the airplane snacks had worn off and our first priority was to get something to eat. We walked a few blocks and found a quaint little pizza joint; we were about to walk into Morton's Steakhouse, which we thought was the entrance to the pizza place, until I took this picture...

While we were waiting for our lunch, we put on our serious faces and used the time to iron out our strategies for our upcoming matches on Refinery. I donated my hand to the cause, while raccoon and ras cautiously assessed the situation :).

After lunch we set out to explore the surrounding area and identify locations we would eventually eat at. At this point in our journey, food was about all we had on our minds :). We did however catch some interesting landmarks along the way; the entire area that we are near has some pretty cool sight seeing.
SoulVoid decides to pass on a team bonding group hug. I was lucky enough to be the one holding the camera of course.

Once we recovered from raccoon's youtube adventures, we set out in search of some oriental cuisine for dinner. We tried a sushi restaurant in the hotel, but when we saw that a single plate cost over $100, we decided to check out a Chinese/Korean restaurant we found earlier in the day. They must have noticed our WCG VIP badges, because we scored a table in a private room.

SUSHI PLATE!
This is clearly the first time some people have experienced chopsticks...
We decided to blow all our future prize money on dinner lol...
After dinner we started making our way back to the hotel for the Team USA meeting. Along the way Adhesive decided to offer his leftover food to a homeless gentleman, who immediately responded by asking us all if we could lend him some cash so he could repair his car tire a block away (aka the liquor store :p). The night scene in LA is a really awesome experience, I'll have to take some pictures in the next few days.
Upon returning to the hotel, we met with a WCG rep, who gave us all our USA jackets and information about our schedule. As far as we know, we will most likely be playing our first matches on Friday the 1st, but that could very soon change; won't know anything until tomorrow. We ended up spending the remainder of the night hanging out in our hotel rooms watching TV and practicing Quake Wars Online on my laptop.

Our first day (half-day) was fairly focused around food, exploring the area, and recovering from lost sleep, but tomorrow should turn out to be a long day of preparation for our matches. There is going to be a big fancy intro to the whole event, taking place at the LA Convention Center, after which we will gain access to the Quake Wars Online practice zone. Stay tuned for more updates tomorrow night when things really get started here at WCG!
